KONGSBERG SIMRAD MPT 319

KONGSBERG SIMRAD MPT 319

The Simrad MPT 319 is a medium frequency transponder (56 channels) for use with the HPR 408/418 systems. The channel is preset from factory, but can be altered by acoustic telemetry. The transponders can be used in SSBL, LBL and telemetry modes.

The MPT 319 is also compatible with "older" HPR 309/310 systems when "coded" into HPR 300 SSBL mode by a HPR 408/410/418 system.

On interrogation the transponder will reply with a single pulse or a multi-pulse response, containing different information back to the HPR system depending on the application.

Some of these are:
• Position-transponder in SSBL and LBL modes.
• Master-slave transponder in an LBL array.
• Transponder Range-Positioning mode (Position itself).
• Range measuring transponder.
• Sensor-reading telemetry transponder.

An advanced signal processing technique is used to provide a reliable 2-way acoustic telemetry link. The link may be used to command the transponder into different modes of operation or to transfer data to or from the transponder. Telemetry of external sensors is also possible.

The transponder is normally self-contained with power supply using lithium battery and can optionally be externally powered. Other battery types on request. Alternative housing material (254SMO) is available for long mechanical lifetime.

The transponder may be secured to a subsea structure using mounting brackets, or fitted with an anchor.
